Had a recruiter tell me that investment firms only give 24 hours for you to accept an offer - is this true? It seems crazy to me

They do that, so you don't try to get another company to match. Ask for an extension, but it doesn't always work. Personally, I wouldn't take it if they gave me a day since what does that say about the environment.

Yes

They do. Buy as much time as you can

Was definitely not true for me. I had a week.

Mine gave 3 days

Probably an attempt to keep you from using the offer for shopping around.

Unless you’re shopping, you should know by then if you want it or not. I get that a few days (or weeks!) more would be ideal. I’ve gotten a several day extension saying that I wanted to fully discuss with my family before signing in ink, but that I’m personally looking forward to accepting.

It's true especially in NYC and a popular company

Receiving an offer to join C-suite and first executive hire of a small startup, almost three years old, growing 50% CAGR, 7M revenue. Currently, the startup is owned 59-39 by the two co-founders (2% combined to three advisors). I address a massive gap for them. What is reasonable to ask for %-wise? Would be taking a significant pay cut (currently on $380k) They will be raising a round soon, but only valuation was a 409 from a year ago, putting them at 9M.

I can provide these for my current company, but difficult to get for earlier ones, since it's been almost 10 yrs I have left them. I have written to hr of previous companies but no response yet.
I told CTS HR that I have experience letter, relieving letter, salary slips , bank statement, but she says it's not enough. Any thoughts pls?

EY MD 🐠 , I’m a newly promoted MD and have a few questions on comp timelines I’m hoping you can help answer since there have been 0 comms to MDs on this 😔:
1. I’ve heard we don’t find out new salaries until mid-Aug with others below PP. Given others new comp doesn’t start until Oct, do you know if that’s when our new comp starts too even though our new titles are already effective?
2. Does the MD rating/comp timeline continue to follow the timeline for others going forward after the first yr?

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.
