NEED ADVICE - Hi all, I'm a L11 analyst and super interested in applying to a 2 month scholarship in Saudi Arabia to learn Arabic but concerned about the working logistics - does anyone have any advice on whether I can work from Saudi for 2/3weeks and if not, how can I leverage my leave etc. to be able to accommodate this? I.e. is unpaid leave a thing here? I have some AL leftover too - the dates for the scholarship aren't confirmed and waiting till promo to take sabbatical is a stretch

What would be an exit opportunity like for someone with both FDD and CDD experience?

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Given this new field and type of work, I've been having a really tough time. Anyone mind sharing what helped get you through your first ux project?

For the people who went back to school to pursue a totally different career, what did you do for work? I don’t think I’d be able to do both my current job and school. I did retail in college and that probably isn’t so smart right now. Neither is working at a restaurant. I don’t think I can go back and live with my parents. I feel like I’m stuck.

Any other fish just own one pair of jeans? I usually get 4-5 wears before a wash. I had more pair when I was younger. I’m thinking this is probably outlier behavior.

How do y’all deal with burnout? First year already billed 1900 since Jan. I feel like I’m tired and uninterested in work all the time now.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

How do you best leverage a job offer when you don’t want to leave? In the running for a VP job (higher level than now) that pays $70k higher than what I currently make. I want to ask for more money, but don’t want them to see me as a flight risk or that I am not loyal anymore. Or my bigger fear is they’ll say they cannot offer me any more and then I feel like I have egg on my face. Any tips for delicately balancing this?
