Telling your PM, “I’m sorry, I’m not available [tonight], [this weekend], etc.” can actually work wonders. Try it!
Sounds like you need to have a chat with your account executive. Clients can be shit and send stuff last minute, but accounts should be able to defer and reschedule if Creative’s overworked.
Talk to your PM. Make all requests go through them if you can. They are great at telling accounts that you are unable to do every little thing ASAP. At least the good ones do that
Sounds like you need to improve your prioritization skills more than organization. Your boss, PM and Account should all be able to help you with that starting with PM as your first choice as others mentioned.
Block 30% of your day with fake meetings to complete your work. Don't tell people what you're doing. Make sure Account/ PM respect your calendar (but still try to be a team player and be flexible when you can).
Thats called randomization and you can avoid it by working with your PMs and have them be the owner of you as a resource. Objectify yourself. They will begin to protect you so you do better work on their projects
My account people apparently have no idea how to look at peoples availability, so the “block off time” thing never works. We are trying to implement a new rule that meetings happen in the morning unless totally not an option. I doubt it will happen but optimistic.
