Not working laid off and found out I’m pregnant. Like WTH, I did an interview today final round and have a few more pop up interviews with diff jobs next week but what do I do? I mean will I even qualify for mat leave? Will I get only two weeks and then have to come back to work? I don’t even know if I got an offer on this job today. So many thoughts running through my head. I can’t even enjoy this@moment and plus my unemployment is still in review after 7 weeks. My gosh wish me luck folks

Keep going in the interview process without letting this hinder you, honestly having a job is necessary. At this point being unemployed, you’re not getting paid mat leave anyway. If you have to take PTO and fmla and even unpaid leave, you’re still better off for having a job!

OP wouldn’t qualify for FMLA. OP, you’d want to negotiate leave once you have an offer in hand and make sure it’s documented in the offer letter.

I found out I was going to be laid off a day before I got a positive pregnancy test.
I interviewed like crazy and started a job at 13 weeks pregnant.

I did a lot of research into state policies knowing I wouldn’t qualify for FMLA. Many states have 26 week parental leave policies - you work FT for 26 weeks minimum, you get 12 weeks, protected, state paid leave up to a maximum amount. Besides this- short term disability kicks in at most jobs after 3 months and will cover you for 6-8 weeks of maternity leave. You could also add your full PTO from the new job, just go negative. There’s many ways to get you at least to 12 weeks.
Lastly, I would potentially negotiate maternity leave AFTER receiving an offer letter. Do not mention the pregnancy during the hiring process.
Foe the job I mentioned above, I told them when I was about 24 weeks and I spoke up about instituting a day 1 policy. They actually did and I was the first employee to benefit from it. I got a full 4 months off.
You never know what you’ll get until you ask.
You got this, good luck.
