NY personal injury attorneys: why are most lawsuits filed in state court than federal court? Is there an advantage to being in state court as a defendant?

I’m talking about cases that procedurally can be brought in federal court but are instead brought in state court

Federal courts tend to be more advantageous for defendants

Because most cases don’t have diversity jurisdiction. The end

I can only speak for CA but I bet it’s a similar issue: Jury verdicts are higher in state court bc juries are more diverse (state court pulls from drivers licenses and Feds pull from voter registration so you have wealthier older more conservative jurors in Fed court); you don’t need 100% unanimity in CA state court like you do in federal court.

MM shop, inv team role, I did a final round last week (my XXth IV so far) with one of the GPs. I honestly thought it went great. Haven’t heard a thing since though. Recruiter thinks I’m still in it cause of Christmas-Hol.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)
