What keeps me going is remembering that each hire shapes the team and culture in a real, lasting way. It gets boring for me too, so I try mixing up my routine by blocking time for learning new interview techniques or connecting with different departments to see how hires perform post-onboarding. It’s not always easy, but shifting perspective from just evaluation to impact helps me recharge and stay motivated.
Having to assess people all the time can get to be a bit mind numbing. It's an important part of the work, and over time you develop an instinct for it. If you find that you're not relating to it, perhaps it's really not the position for you.
