Start by assessing why he's being lazy. I'm sure there's a cause and effect there.
I’m enjoying the assumption that this is a man.
Tell him it's clear to you that he's disengaged and ask him what's wrong?
Are you his manager?
He’s probably just bored. If you keep giving him the same kind of projects of course he’s going to avoid them.
Kill him. Quietly. On a weekend.
They probably just put in their 2 week notice. Just hold out a little longer and the problem will fix itself.
If you try all of the "ask him what's going on" questions and you still feel like it's affecting the business, that's when you can get HR involved. Nothing sets off the 🚨's quite like suggesting the business is in jeopardy.
What it's your role and relation to the AD in question? "The team" doesn't do anything. What you do depends on what your role and level are. You talk to him poo privately, you can share your concern with your manager, you can share your concern with his manager, etc. Don't go to HR. And do not say personal bias and opinion things like "lazy". Talk about objective professional/business issues this is creating before his performance seems to have changed.
Sorry for typos, you get it. And sorry for assuming it's a male. Got swayed by comments above.
