Gotta admit, as a Gen Xer, it’s kind of cute watching the two behemoth generations go after each other. It’s sort of like watching competing Super Sweet Sixteen parties.
As a gen Xer you are allowed to use it too. Our generation (as a fellow gen xer) was just the one to “do nothing and say nothing” even though half of us were the whole time. Unfortunately the boomers were our parents.
I love OK Boomer. A verbal shiv. I’m only sorry my knowing about it means it’s not cool anymore.
@CD1 I feel like us Gen Xers are watching it all go down and shaking our heads. Not that either group will notice
Yawn about the diss - it’s so Gen X not to care.
Your response is a bit ironic as I believe your reaction to the phrase is part of the origin story of the phrase.
Hands off my line, Millennials. —an X’er
The young politician was heckled by an older politician while giving a speech where she brought up her generation and its future without action on climate change. She deadpanned “ok boomer” and kept speaking. It was pretty damn funny.
The memes don’t lie
Thousands of articles by Boomers over 30 years about Gen X, Y, and Z being slackers and snowflakes... and it takes only two words to make them faint on their couches.
OK Boomer
As a Gen Xer, the only thing I don't like about it is that we didn't think of it first. The Millennials and Gen Zers are inheriting a massive mess they had no hand in creating, and while obviously not all boomers made the mess many feel fine belittling the younger generations for having the gall to complain about it.
Ok boomer isn’t just a randomly tossed insult. Think of it as a generational reply to age based “mansplaining”. Like, “kids these days don’t understand that if they just worked harder they could get ahead in life.” “Ok boomer.”
Greatest Generation, Gen-X, Zenials, Millennials, Gen-Z all in unison: "Ok, Boomer."
I think you might not understand what empathy is if you’re willing to fire someone for 2 innocuous words.
Millennials got tired of being told how entitled they are.
And I’ll say to you, good luck on the witness stand defending your wrongful termination, Boomer.
Ok boomer is having a moment right now. Now that older people know about it, you crazy kids will come up with something else. Nothing’s more uncool than boomers knowing about ok boomer.
Did everyone see the Best of Next Door post about it? How it’s “disrespectful to the person being insulted?” Great line....😃
This post is peak "OK boomer."
And in contest the 'rival' politician insulted her and that was her deadpan response.
I am a boomer
Get over it
Just bring it every day
Learn to listen aggressively
F’n right
Also sooner or later the next global level Hitler, Stalin etc will come around and current generation will have to grow up and figure life out (quickly).
Yeah I get it, BUT the generations have to work together or not much will help. Bashing each other will get us no where. Never has and never will.
As a fellow agency executive, it might concern you that this pop culture political nugget is a couple of weeks old.
We are busy, but keeping up with that shit in a timely manner is in the best interest of being on top of the game. And I’m with you.
Besides, what I find fun is that 80% of the people saying “they o boomer” don’t really know what defines a baby boomer. Some dickwad 25 year old said it to a peer and the recipient was totally generation X.
Yeah, it's a thing
Ok, boomer!
