It's retail life. There have always been customers that make work miserable and always will be. As for technology, I think it's making customers and society as a whole worse and more impatient. Kind of makes sense since our phones make us believe every single thing should be instantly available, be it entertainment or a Chinese food delivery. I'm guilty of using it as much as anyone else, but I still find myself waxing nostalgic about how much simpler life seemed to be when I was a kid.

I get what you mean. When everything in life is instant now, people start expecting that same speed everywhere, even in places where it’s not realistic. It definitely feels like patience has gotten shorter over the years, especially in retail.

Weekends definitely feel like they start at full speed now. I’ve noticed customers seem less patient than they used to be, especially with anything self checkout related. Technology helps in some ways but I think it also trained people to expect everything instantly, so the tolerance for even small delays is way lower.

I’ve noticed the same thing. Technology made things faster, but it also lowered people’s patience for even small delays. Self checkout especially seems to trigger frustration the moment something doesn’t work instantly.
