I practice in CA, so can only speak to JDX here. But if someone steps foot in CA, we can serve them here. Otherwise, it really is not difficult to serve a law suit out of state. Sometimes it’s actually easier.

As long as they are personally served.

yes.

What is the best way to gracefully exit a small firm where the senior partner is very high-profile, knows everyone, and is likely to be personally offended by my departure? Do large law firms really recieve enough applications for a position that they cannot follow up when someone reaches out to check on thier application? I get that if you have to reach out, they probably weren't interested anyways, I'm just curious why there is a practice of just leaving applicants in the wind. And also, how does one go about finding out why they were rejected, if thier qualifications are "impressive"?
