That feeling is real and tough. Marketing is shifting fast, and layoffs shake confidence. But your skills and experience still matter, maybe just in different ways. Lots of people are regrouping, upskilling, or pivoting to new specialties. It’s okay to take a pause, but don’t write yourself off just yet. You’re not alone.

Sorry to hear. My former creative director used to tell me always work on your Plan B, because you never know when it will become Plan A. I’ve been an adjunct instructor part-time. Right now this industry is the wild west. I’m looking for trends, but I don’t expect to be doing the same work in the next 1-2 years.
Yeah that sucks. I don't know if I'll be in marketing long term. I do enjoy it but I do see it on a chopping block a lot of times. I've thought of switching to Product Managers but i feel like not coming from an engineering background puts me at a disadvantage
You’re not alone. I was laid off too — no reason given — even after running SEM campaigns that boosted our monthly revenue 1.5x for two months straight. It’s tough to stay motivated when even results don’t seem to matter.
I am so sorry to hear that. I know how tough that is from personal experience. It seems like the job market is only going to keep getting worse as well.
I’m so so sorry. That’s an awful feeling, and one that is definitely not true. There are so many industries with transferable skills, so I feel very confident you’ll find something. Your previous experience, education, and skills are all so valuable and important!
There have been constant shifts where I’m at too. What roles in marketing are you all in?
That sucks, I’m really sorry you went through that. Marketing can make you feel disposable sometimes, especially when leadership treats creative work like it’s replaceable. But your experience is valuable and the skills we build in marketing (strategy, storytelling, problem-solving, etc.) translate almost anywhere. You might just need a reset, not a new career.
