This means nothing for the demand of revenue cloud. I can’t be on the bench for one day without getting staffed on a new CPQ project. They are likely just trying to “bundle” lol it with sales cloud to make selling it easier.

Never suggested it would impact customer demand
This was unexpected and seems very strange. Are they including CPQ in Sales now? Revenue Cloud was actually doing pretty well gaining momentum. These changes are exhausting

My guess is it means less than it seems, just as making it "Revenue Cloud" meant almost nothing. But there is real change happening in the background since the layoffs, in terms of org consolidation w/Industries Cloud (fka Vlocity), have to wait and see how that will play out - though Summer '23's incorporation of OmniStudio doc gen provides some hints.
Just another opportunity for a new set of sku's for the sales team to upsell

Yeah, this doesn't really mean anything. Until Salesforce fixes the limitations to Salesforce Billing, it will continue to be a niche add on to CPQ and the overall Quote to Cash process.

Unless something has changed, they charge billing based off invoice revenue billed through the system rather than license count, and yes it comes out pretty expensive as a result. As for what Salesforce AE's pitch... That's a discussion to be had over beers, not Fishbowl haha
Was CPQ functionality never an available add-on?
I just assumed the sector-specific “clouds” were just offshoots of the main Sales/Service Clouds. Same backend with just different functions/wrappers/apps for differentiation (I’m sure I’m dramatically oversimplifying the infrastructure).

Coming back a few days later I can confirm that revenue cloud is still a thing. It’s on the website, it’s still people’s job title. This seems like a single social media page.

Also heard that Industries CPQ (V’locity) would take on the SteelBricks capabilities.
