Part of my job allows me to do “field rides” with our sales reps to make sure they’re promoting our products compliantly. However, I support another area of the business that is “promotional” but at a higher level than sales. I’d like to do a field ride with them to get better visibility into their activities and learn their business better too, but I need their buy-in. How would you “sell” the idea of a ride along to folks not typically accustomed to it and who might be wary?

Just tell them you’re interested in the work and want to shadow them on a low stakes day. Stroke their ego and they’ll prolly be happy to let you do it.

Never go direct to anyone in the field, go to their leadership first and simply say what you need to accomplish and be super transparent. I usually will give then a couple parts of the country as options of where I’d be willing to travel to and ask them who they might recommend for you to reach out to. Some field folks love field rides but others hate it. Just keep in mind as well that there are days when all the field might do is drop off brochures with receptionist or do a lunch, versus a one on one detail. I sometimes try to line up a field ride with a speaker program so it’s worth the travel.

Just got offered a job at a small biotech in London (UK). ~£45k plus bonus but only 1YR FTC and no equity.

Pretty sure it's a discovery role too.

I just finished my PhD at a very good uni with 3 years technician experience before that. BSc and MSc also at very good unis with good grades.

I think this offer is well below par, but curious to hear what you guys think/if you have any comparisons?

Thanks in advance :)
