Planning to ask my firm about reducing my billables or going part time. Current requirement is about 1920 per year.” (Roughly 160ish/mo). Is 1200-1260/yr a fair place to start? Benefits aside.

I think it will depend on the size of your firm as to whether they can accommodate part time since often the overhead associated with a person does not shrink proportionally to the hours/pay reduction. At my firm, people who go on a reduced schedule usually go to ~75%, which for around 1900 billables is 1425. The numbers you've proposed are closer to 65%.

Yep same, ours is 70% or 85%.

Check also the minimum to still be eligible for benefits (if applicable). At my firm I believe it’s 60% or 65%

And check min hours needed to go up a class year because my firm has a min hour requirement for that

Some firms don’t allow below 70%. The partners will have a lot of say. YMMV on how much you can actually make your arrangement work (i’m struggling in mine at 1650 for the year at a 2000 minimum firm).

Definitely a concern of mine is not meeting a higher requirement even if reduced. Is this your first year on reduced?

I feel like 1,400 is a common PT number. I see in the 1,200s less. It’s most typically a percentage of full-time, like 70% or 80%.

Asked to go part time (at around 60%). I didn’t meet any opposition, but flagging that most big law firms don’t always respect boundaries, especially if everyone is underwater. Even if you’re part time, people will still expect you to be a team player.

We’re starting to interview for my copywriter partner this week, but I don’t have any creative leadership above me (I’m also the only creative with agency experience at the company) so I’m nervous about being the only one looking at prospective partners.

Any tips for good questions to ask to feel out who is the best fit? I’ve worked with great and not so great writers in the past and it wasn’t always clear which would end up being the not so great based on their books.

Hi there

I am in need of some serious advice. I have been continuously harassed, ridiculed and spoken down to by a coworker who’s now even “threatened” to get me fired etc. We do not have an HR department and the only manager I can go to is also mistreated and not taken seriously. What do I do? I’m terrified.

Hi, I’m a Canadian PR holder currently in the US. Trying to make the move to Toronto in the new few months. I see positions at Deloitte that I think are a good fit but applying online without a referral appears to be going into a black hole. Is there anyone on here I connect with to understand more about Deloitte’s hiring process? (Recruiters I can reach out to, people willing to give referrals etc)? Would be very grateful! I have contacts in Deloitte US but that doesn’t seem to apply for CA!
