No, u should not do that. Be firm on the point where they need to provide you an offer letter before you put down your papers. And if they reject you in this process it's fine because once you resign and let's say worst case they tell you we could not provide the salary you are expecting that would be the real nightmare situation. Talk gently stating that you want a revised offer letter else you won't be able to resign. Coz it's not about what they say it's about what proof you have coz nobody will consider the terms that were told to you and you don't have anything on writing.
