My opinion: work is not a privilege nor a right. No such thing as security. Only opportunities.
I’ve seen many people who have been let go from agencies do the same recently. Odd trend. Last thing on my mind was gratitude when I got canned. I’m also not sure why people publicly announce that they’ve been let go, just not sure what they have to gain from it.

Agree with you. If you are there this long at Meta, it means you didn’t get laid off or jump ship fast enough. I don’t say that about every company, but you really don’t want to be posting that you didn’t get out when you should have.
Maybe the thinking is to show you worked at a place that theoretically opens doors and also announce you’re looking while seeming like an easy going (not troublesome) employee.
My friend got like 10 months severance too. So it’s easier to be chill.

yikes!
You’re right. It’s how we grovel at the feet of the system. “Please let me back in the warm embrace of the herd.” We’re doing a stress test of human dignity. Somebody else said work is not a right and they’re right, but social order isn’t a given either. Once enough educated imaginative people give up on the system, things get interesting.
