Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

I love you Atlanta, GA. Respect.
Got an interview with Amazon within their Advertising department. I hear working for Amazon can be great if you get into the right department. Anyone have insights to their advertising department? Good or bad? Also, would love some interview tips if you have them! (It’s for an Executive Assistant position) thank you!

Sadly, there's a reason why you have to hire older creatives to handle complex accounts like Finance and Pharma. younger creatives have neither the interest nor aptitude to do the work.
True that !
In the interview process. Big egos. Refusal to work solely on the main brand that would pay their salaries. Seriously disappointing. Like they were doing me a favor applying for the job. Wound up with middle aged white guys.
Seriously. I really tried.
Or middle aged women, thank you very much!
Question: what level were these guys at previously? I’m working at a large agency, and every single new hire ACD has never been in the role before. Turns out we’re paying way less than average for these people. The role is title only. You know how quickly you turn these people into useless cynics? Usually by week E
Most were at the right level. Some TV experience, awards, side projects, social, digital, web design.
All the right pieces, with the exception of the skill set to embrace the job being offered and stifle their egos.
Maybe you’re right though. I’ve seen the advancement of people at my agency and had to scratch my head many times when it comes to what qualifies as an ACD. Especially in pharma. Just had a TV assignment internal presentation and was shocked at how little the ACDs knew. Scripts that would fit in a 1/2 hour sitcom
Did it come down to pragmatic vs idealistic?
The two aren’t exclusive. Anybody who works in pharma has to be pragmatic in order to stay within what’s actually reasonable to say about a treatment, without going overboard. But I also feel you have to be an idealist to show up every day and strive to do great work.
Perhaps, experience is the only way to get both
If you’re hiring for a pharma brand, anyone still building their career has to request to work on other accounts that don’t have as many restrictions creatively.
It cracks me up how they think they’re so great but they would struggle working on such a difficult category.
I AM working with some juniors right out of school and they’re terrific. It just seems that once they get a taste of general consumer life, even if they apply for pharma, it’s already become beneath them.
Forget hiring anyone with under five years experience
Meanwhile, there are a ton of legitimate ACDs like my partner and I who are tired of selling bs and want to get into pharma full time. Yet, we’re told we don’t have enough experience beyond the freelance jobs we’ve had.
