Saw an AI product manager role asking for 8+ years of experience in building RAG products

Seriously, who has 8+ years of experience of that!?

I often see Product Management roles specializing in Gen AI that are asking for 8+ years of experience and wonder the same thing.

like

Apply even if you don’t have 8+ years of experience. 8 years is ideal, but not mandatory.

Lastly, if you could just reach out with advice about the process prep, I'd be very grateful as well!

Any one recently joined Indeed? Want to know if Indeed asked for a reliving/experience letter from the previous employer. I am joining Indeed in July. I am going through a rough patch with my current employer, ever since I put in my notice 🤦‍♂️ Its got to the point of them threatening to not provide a experience/reliving letter…
I can provide references and recommendations. Before leaving, I just want to ensure that I am equipping my successor to take care of my product and build it further…

Anyone else have experience leading product managers across multiple groups who don't have much to do with each other? Or leading a group whose teams don't really make sense as a group? I’m trying to pivot to PM after >3 years in finance and I have a 2nd round interview with CPO this week. Company has 3.7 on Glassdoor with complaints about CEO, “bro-y” culture, and hard to wfh. It’s a data analytics company with 5 PMs, was bought by a PE firm this year, and has a new (female) CEO as of Oct. Role is 50/50 hybrid, pays well vs what I make, and most importantly would be a foot in the door to PM. Is this a good place to be for PM? What else do I need to find out to know for sure?

With product design questions, I struggle to identify user groups. Once I do everything starts flowing and I’m confident. But the initial identification of user groups is something I find challenging. What’s your go-to way of doing this? Would folks be open to participating in a “PM Office Hours” style discussion?

Flexible on format etc; here’s what I’m thinking:
- We choose a particular problem for a week (/month?) which a lot (all?) PMs face regularly. E.g. “stakeholder mapping”
- we have a “Fishbowl Live event” where we (practicing PMs) can discuss what we have seen work / not work/ brainstorm solutions for someone with a specific problem.

The idea is to provide multiple peer perspectives, and hopefully something useful
