Those companies may offer you higher initially but are inconsistent in terms of pay(hikes, variables) and job security when you are on their higher end salary. Also your current company adds value to your resume. You will get interview calls from many companies including FANGM based on your current company. If you current job is toxic or less paid, better keep your patience and take a long medical leave or something prepare and try for equivalent companies. I am not saying service companies are bad, they are good if you have simple life with decent pay nothing more. I would rather work in high paying product companies as long as possible and will choose service based when I have no option. You can get service based company at any time comparatively easy, if your resume is strong (their clients should be impressed with your experience and thats what all matters for them)

I second you. But I'm a Salesforce Developer working specifically on Salesforce technology for clients projects and not a core SDE. In this case what should I do, if the consulting team's policy is much different than the company as overall. Very less scope of promotion and increment as tough competition internally. But overall culture is great and it does add a brand name on the resume which really brings a lot of calls.
I would rather wait for a good opportunity and switch with satisfaction. Keep applying and preparing as your current place seems to be okay in culture(not every team has it these days) . Also try to participate in internal events, hackathons and make some contacts which can also open some doors for other teams. Rest is your wish if you are in too tight financially.
