I got poached. But I’ve heard both sides of the story. “Yes it can be hard.” “No, agencies are looking for that well rounded experience.” Honestly it comes down to you and what you craft. People hire talent.
Very true point, thank you for sharing-
I’m not a creative so it’s not exactly the same, but I took a few years off to teach and in my experience folks love seeing that on my resume and I get enthusiastically asked about it a lot. When I re-entered advertising I did it via a previous work connection. Just do your best to maintain contact with folks in your network and you’ll find your way back if you’d like to.
That’s great you took some time to focus on teaching, something different but I am sure gave you new perspective! Thank you for the advice.
I’ve gone back and forth and it’s been a nonissue both ways. Don’t over think it. It’s more about your portfolio, experience, and personality fit in the interview. As long as you are growing, learning, and improving, keep going.
hopped back and forth. in my experience, Agencies love ur in house experience (esp if ur in tech) and but in house may not care so much about multiple agency experiences
