So... I've been working my way towards my goal of being an HRBP for a few years now. I currently am treated - for all intents and purposes - as an HRBP, really, as I work directly with the owner on all major decisions and initiatives in the company. However, I'm at a small company right now, and it's not really helping my growth not having anyone to learn from in HR as I want to find a job as an HRBP somewhere else down the road.

How do you recommend I go about this?

Do you have a SHRM or HRCI membership? You can learn about trends and what's new in the HR world as well as reviewing forms and processes. If you don't have a certification, you can also study and earn one to add to your education.

I have been in a similar spot. Doing the work without the title or structure can stall growth. Sometimes moving on is the only way to be officially seen.

I think you’re going to have to leave your company and move into a bigger company. If you can get a position underneath the chief human resources officer, I think that’ll be good.

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize
