I currently have one. Bought it new on the gray market because, as said, it's ridiculously expensive new from an AD. I love the history, love that writing on the back, "First watch worn on the Moon." Since I was a kid I always have been really into space, so I feel a special connection to the watch, and geek out seeing pics of Buzz Aldrin standing on the Moon wearing my watch. Aside from its association with Project Apollo, the watch is well-respected in the watch enthusiast community, and you have to respect the fact that a consumer product in continious production for 50 years has remained essentially unchanged. Serious collectors will always have a Speedie in his collection at some point. However, I also have to agree with SM1, after the newness of the watch wore off, I've found that I'm much less impressed with it on the wrist than I was from the pictures. Maybe a little too subdued for my tastes. Next purchase will probably be Tudor BB (really want a Sub, but not gonna spend that much cash on a watch anytime soon). Hope that helps!
Timeless. Quality. But very popular.
Great watch. Has a history. Would advise going for a vintage or 2nd hand piece as it doesn't retain value very well.
Love it in pictures but much less on the wrist. I’m sure I will get one someday, but as mentioned above: go 2nd hand because they depreciate badly when bought new.
I bought one and loved it but recently sold it. 100% agree on preowned or 20% off from an AD. It’s a fun watch, looks amazing and has a really cool history. I bought mine for $2,950 and sold it for $3,000.
Speedy for the win. You cannot go wrong.
