We may not be immune from layoffs, but we are a long way from closure being a threat. I know a lot of businesses in my city won't be so lucky. There are already so many empty storefronts :( We get one or two people every day bringing their resume in trying to find work, and we are only a small store.
I think you are right. It makes me sad to think some of these stores may not be here in the future. I haven't heard anything at my store specifically but I definitely think there will be stores that close.

Every year starts like this. Best Buy has been going bankrupt for probably 20 years. Some companies will close up every year, a few will be shocking.
Having been through (wait, need two hands) bankruptcies, and nearly as many store closures, you learn to roll with it. It's the circle of life.
If you told someone in the 1970s that Sears would go bankrupt, they would have laughed at you. If you told someone in the 90s that K-Mart would buy them first, then they would go bankrupt, they'd be toasting you as the greatest stand up comic ever.

We haven’t had any chatter about bankruptcy. I heard the company was closing stores but I only heard of one store closing in a rural area
Closure? No. Are they constantly telling us to do more with less? Acting like everything is an emergency? That everything is the stores fault instead of anything corporate does? Absolutely.
