Laughing so I don’t cry.

Is it stressful bc we deal with legal stuff; things with potentially massive consequences; advising people on things and the responsibility of just being a lawyer utilizing a bar license?

Litigation is a massive ball of stress on its own - the adversity, timelines, legal arguments and strategy, trial, difficult opposing counsel, etc.

Same can go for business transactions…

Is there just no way around it? So then what, should we have really assessed ourselves prior to law school and find out how we tolerate/handle stress. I know some thrive in it, but in balance. It cannot be stressful day after day, entire career… can it? 😅

I'm a federal staff attorney. When I have litigation it's all consuming, but about 70% of the year it's mostly just advice work, which 1. Usually isn't very stressful or high stakes , and 2. Even if it's super high stakes, you aren't the one pressing the button, you're one of many inputs the decisionmaker is getting
