It no doubt varies by organization, but we have to assume some level of tech competence is required just about anywhere these days. It's not that people in sales would need tech certifications, but if they're uncomfortable using computers and smartphones and whatever other devices come along they're going to be at a disadvantage.
Conversation Starter
I agree with that. I see tech awareness as expected now, not optional. Sales ability still matters most, but being comfortable with tools and data is quickly becoming part of what “good sales” looks like.
They have to be tech savvy. I don't expect them to have experience with every platform that we rely on, but they have to be able to figure out new tech without too much issue. I am finding Gen Z to struggle with this specifically, because they have always been spoon fed incredibly easy to use user interfaces.
