Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

I don't see a point in having a conversation about a job a year in advance--with a recruiter, anyway. Companies don't really hire that far out, and recruiters only fill already open positions. Given it's FAANG, I think G will wait for you for up to a year(?) if you pass the hiring committee, but team matching that far out probably isn't the best idea.
Lead with what's important, which here is that you're not available for a year and you're guessing they're looking for something sooner. Then ask if they'd still like to hear your background in case a good match comes up later, or if they'd like their time back and if you could follow up closer to when you're on the market.
I'll go one step farther and suggest you don't even schedule a call for the next recruiter, but reply all this in a message. If they do have something long term, they'll tell you.
It's probably good to mention visa things ahead too, since these can sometimes have their own timelines that are more touchy and totally out of recruiters' control. Sounds like you're getting a GC though, so this might not apply to you anymore, in which case congrats!
