I find ineffective managers are much more common
I don't like to blame staffs. It's the managers fault that they didn't coach the staff and hide their own ignorance.
To and extender KPMG1. I've had some truly uncoachable people. Just need to recognize the signs and roll them off quickly. But agree, ineffectiveness exists at every level
I get that managers have issues from both sides so it makes them overwhelmed and ineffective. I sympathize completely. But damn, how do firms have so many managers that can't do their job effectively?
My current senior manager literally. Does. Nothing.
What do you do about ineffective senior managers who get promoted to partner while you did all the work that they took credit for to reach that next level

I don't think we have any disagreement KPMG1. Just saying some of the more difficult to coach people are not worth the time and effort when there's better talent out there. You can disagree with that point, but nobody gets an infinite amount of chances.
I have seen some poor managers but there seems to be more of them in consulting.
