6 months is not enough time. Having lateraled a few times, I can tell you it takes more time - at least a year - to truly know how the new firm operates and how things are going to shake out. And as much as your old firm might have given the impression they'd take you back, things are usually never really the same when you return to a prior firm. There's always going to be a fear that you have one foot out the door and will jump at another good opportunity, IMHO.
We had two attorneys leave and come back at my last firm. While they were able to come, they were not viewed the same.
I would recommend getting coffee/lunch with some former associates/partners from the group to catch up

There is always a period of buyers remorse and nostalgia if you left on good terms. Not sure you know enough at 6 months and it doesn’t sound like red flags.

Why did you leave in the first place?

Mainly money, in the end, though I convinced myself otherwise. I got a class year bump when I switched. And I thought I’d work slightly less, and while that’s true, there are other things about the new firm that sort of negate the difference in hours
