While I am definitely not a fan of either Neo-Confederates or the "Lost-Cause" narrative of the Civil War, I fail to see the connection of either to this issue.
I am glad the Republican governors canceled the meeting when they found out Democratic governors weren't invited. Integrity has to start somewhere.
I’m not a fan of Trump leaving out any of the governors for the meeting. But this becoming a story was triggered by our OK governor creating a stir to poke at Trump. These two have a long standing beef and Stitt is pretty unpopular around our state and is known for undercutting and backstabbing his “allies”.
While I don’t like that Trump excluded anyone, he did explain the reasoning in a couple of posts, and he is within his power to do so, and he used the occasion to highlight these two governors that are deserving of more scrutiny. Polis is a crook and should be called out for jailing election officials, and Moore is a scummy media whore who doesn’t serve his state well at all. He gets a pass because of his race and how good he is on camera and in public, but he’s a very ineffective governor and his handling of the bridge disaster should have gotten him impeached.
I’ve been at event with Moore about a decade ago, and his promise and potential is staggering, but he just doesn’t deliver. It’s sad to see him underachieving so badly in his state’s highest office. I really thought he would be great and hoped to see him succeed but he’s become a classic example of the Peter Principle.
I’m no fan of Stitt (our OK governor), to be sure. The funny thing in state is that the blue folks here are actually supporting Trump on this one because we’ve reached the point here that if Stitt is attacking someone, then that person is probably right. But, to be fair, my state is by far the “reddest” state, and generally supports Trump on almost everything.
Calling it “integrity” when you have Kevin Stitt involved means that you are missing a lot of the point. I agree with you that the end result is the correct one, but Stitt did this for much more personal and petty reasons.
I’m not familiar with the “Lost Cause” narrative, or at least I don’t know the idea by that name. I’m genuinely interested if you would care to elaborate. I think I know what you mean by “Neo-Conservative”, but I would be glad to learn more about that as well.

Trump doesn’t work for the democrats, only the republicans. He literally told the country that he hated democrats, didn’t he? He doesn’t invite them to partake as a representative in American government. He’s unfortunately extremely divisive.
