This may be taboo to ask, but I haven’t seen it asked so I will do so. Does anyone feel that our industry (albeit amazing for consultants) perpetuates a cycle of reliance of US industries on knowledge and cuts into net income of US companies and undermines the economic model of free capitalism?
Granted, I recognize the value we bring to companies and know I personally (sometimes I know and sometimes I’m hopeful) have had an effect on some of the biggest companies out there. (See comments)

I joined KPMG a while ago from federal consulting. Federal consulting had super good work life balance but I’ve been working at KPMG strategy for a while now. I was promoted to manager in July 2020 (3,5 yr of experience). Currently preparing for YE but honestly, I couldn’t care less - what motivates one to push for SM promotion? Not my case atm, but wanted to hear what motivates ppl to keep going as I don’t feel like it’s worth it.
