This whole job hunting process has made me numb. At first, the constant rejection was eating me alive. But now, I expect to be rejected. I'm not sure how I would react if I actually got a job offer at this point. Whose in the same boat?

I'm in the same boat. Actually, I'm not even in the boat. I have 2 interviews coming up for the first time in months. I'm mind boggled. I don't know whether to be skeptical and think they are scams or nervous or excited. I think all of them.
A real job offer? I can't even fathom what that would feel like.

Totally understandable, getting rejected alot had me personally in a depressed state at one point. But I'd say once you receive your offer and you will, remember all those rejection emails and use that as fuel to be the top performer in your organization. Also I just learned alot of times when I saw that "We regret to inform you" email it wasnt cause I wasnt qualified cause I knew I was probably over qualified, but it was because the ATS didnt see enough keyword matches. No longer are people looking at resumes anymore TIP: Copy paste the job requirements of the jobs to Chat GPT and tell it to formulate your resume to fit this job. Once I did that I got less "We Appreciate you taking the time" emails and more "We would like to move forward in the hiring process" email. Great things are soon to come my friend, believe me.

Unfortunately, I am feeling the same way. Little words of encouragement: hang in there. Keep applying, upskilling and take a break when you need to. Things will turn around sooner or later.

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hey all - 2 years in consulting so far as a fairly "type b" personality - relaxed, uncompetitive, enjoy socializing with my colleagues. To be clear, this is not the same as being lazy or irresponsible - I am diligent and do my work well.

Nonetheless I think we can generally say finance/professional services etc. reward "type a" habitudes on its face.

Thought it could be fun/funny/supportive to share experiences as the chiller brains in these anxiety-fueled fields.
