Thought I would work less hours when I started my own business. After 4 years in business I know that's laughable. Wish I could back and give myself advice. What would you tell yourself?

To get an accountant. Right away. Start tracking everything from jump. All the things I thought "would just be easier to do later." It was not easier.

I actually found them through a recommendation from another small business owner in my area! I would suggest asking other businesses (obviously only if they're doing well). I'm in a small business online group with other owners in the area and they share recommendations all the time!

I've been told by my uncle who owns his own business that the way out of working 40 hours a week is to work 80 hours a week.

funny

Exactly how I feel. Love the freedom but I really played myself on the hours.

I'd tell myself that I wouldn't have the capital to work only for myself, but that it would be worth it anyway. And that I'd figure sh*t out because it really didn't feel like I would back then.

Someone told me once: Having a business is like wearing a backpack. You put the backpack on when you start the business, and you have it on at all times until you sell or close the business.

I find the metaphor liberating because it helps me realize that I am not necessarily doing something wrong, it's just the nature of the beast.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat things, it sounds like your business is running you instead of you running your business. Part of my job is helping business owners understand that concept and figure out ways to make sure you all are not over taxing yourself. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

If you are a starter do a short term investment so you will have a better capital on hand

So I’m planning on leaving my position before school starts, but the application and interview process has been slow. At this point I’m afraid I won’t find a job until late July. Should I let my school now and let them post my job as an anticipated position? I’d hate for them to have to find someone last minute, but I also want to keep that school as a fall back just in case. Unfortunately, it’s a terrible position and there has not been a lot of interest in it in the past.

I'm working on a pitch deck, for an event that I'm planning next year for my wine brand called OBA, but I'm struggling to come up with sponsorship ideas.

I don't want to go the traditional route of creating tiers, because I feel like you should do most of the things in tiers regardless on how much they donated. Can anyone assist with coming up with some ideas?

Also, does anyone know how to create a virtual swag bag?

Thanks in advance.
