Today is Boxing Day - a day to give back and an opportunity to help your community and neighbors. Helping your neighbors is not always in donating money.

Although it may be a busy time of the year, would you box up any unwanted or no longer used items to help others?

I used to volunteer at a soup kitchen throughout the year, and it was frequently frustrating at how many people wanted to volunteer at Christmas, but never any other time of year. It was very performative rather than genuinely wanting to help. When it comes to giving, I don't treat the holidays any different than I do the rest of year. I always make sure my unwanted items go to shelters or non-profits.

That is wonderful! The need is always there, no matter the date or time of year.

This isn't a thing where I'm from. I love the idea. We have so much stuff sitting around the house that never gets used. I donate to Goodwill when I remember to, but a lot of it still piles up. Maybe making it a tradition the day after Christmas would help make it stick.

This tradition happens in Great Britain, as well as some other countries, but it should be worldwide. Sharing what you no longer use and helping some in need is honorable.

I’ve been in TA for 10 years and have been wanting to be an HRBP for 2 years now. My prior company had no interest in helping me develop and started with a new company 4 months ago. I was transparent from the start that I wanted to leave TA and was told I could do that within my first year. I’m receiving signs that I’ll, once again, be pigeonholed in TA. I’ve done talent management, DEI, engagement, but my lack of direct BP experience and TA titles keep me pigeonholed. What can I do?
