Trying to pivot into strategy roles and I keep getting told I don’t have the right background. Meanwhile, I’ve led audits for $500M companies, managed teams, cleaned up absolute chaos, and helped clients navigate some of the messiest situations imaginable. What is the right background, then? An MBA? A rebrand? A personal LinkedIn newsletter? I’m starting to feel like I need to explain my entire existence just to get in the room.
