Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

I'm with ya @OP. Alt travel has allowed me to visit so many places and keep in touch with friends from college that are spread across the world (not to mention subsidize my long-distance relationship)
I had every status last year (explat 1K ambassador platinum diamond etc. You name it) . Took local role this year and would never wanna go back. Healthy food, no stressful waiting hours in cabs and airport and most importantly the best memories with wife son and occasionally with friends.
Being able to spend time with friends and family is more important
My son said his first word today and I was home to see it rather than eating room service in a Westin somewhere. That's worth way more than 20k.
I'm with OP, I don't have friends and I get to cheat on my wife when travelling 👍
Do ppl really spend time with family/friends on weekdays anyways? I feel like the only person u miss seeing is ur SO
D fuck EY 1 !!
Travel is great, unless you have SO and fam
I get very tired from traveling, resulting in staying at home during the weekend.
Yea I used to see my friends 1-2 times a week when not traveling
I think the initial months after traveling long term is very hard. I have been traveling non stop for the last 3 years, but got a local gig starting Sept. it's kinda making me a little nervous. I am single and live by myself. The only benefit for me is making use of the $210 gym membership 4-5 teams week opposed to 1-2 times a month.
Takes you out of your comfort zone. Which is good if you get to eat and do cool things after work but suckkks when you have repeated flight and hotel issues and you're leaving work at 8 to eat Chipotle for the nth time.
See the perks are awesome, but the hassles associated with air travel are becoming the real burden of this equation. It's the uncertainty of being able to reach my destination on time that makes me shiver every time I have to travel.
Would have loved this life in my early 20s, but now that I'm married and actually have a nice place to call home and want to enjoy as much time with my husband before kids come into the mix, I'd rather not. The delays are the worst. That said, staying in the best hotels on status and points when traveling for fun is awesome.
The enjoyment of travel comes and goes for me. I really like my team and actually enjoy spending time with them. But, with an SO and kids at home, I feel like I'm not really raising my kids, just get to "see them on the weekends" like I'm some sort of divorced parent. Kind of sad really.
OP wait till you get a kid. I would give up those 20k happily any day to see my daughters smiling face anyday
The full time travel is ok, but I waste so many hours every week with "dead time", or barely productive time on a plane or in cabs. Too much to do. It's also hard to eat healthy food and get a workout schedule in progress
@EY3 definitely >$20k to me but will depend on your personal travel habits.
Young / Newbie consultant - Enjoys it. But just likes to bitch about it in public. #humblebrags
Consultant with a kid / more than a decade old consultant - Hates it to the core, but no time to bitch about it. #familytime #reasontoquit
So you are living with your parents. That changes things also. Your 20k bonus isn't really a bonus then, it's costs you are transferring to your parents.
There will come a point in your life when 'living at home' means 'living in my own place' not 'living off my parents'.
