Two C suite employees, one being our ED, bullied me and the CFO, basically saying we’re not team players, for not allowing them to close a muliti-million $ purchase with a material GAAP and Tax departure. We even ran the transaction by our external CPAs who agreed it wasn’t permissible.
Now I feel like my moral compass is telling me to look elsewhere for work because I’m afraid of more pressure in future deals to “help make it happen”.
Esp as a CPA, I won’t record transactions I know are wrong.

Your CFO let an ED bully them and didn’t stand up for their decision?
I don’t give a crap if I’m a team player if I know the decision is going to hurt and make the firm lose money. Just like your CPA, I’m not going to lose my security licenses over someone else.

Agreed. For an ED, why would CFO let this happen. President, CEO or board, we have a different conversation to navigate, but still???? 🤨

Seriously? Having a culture of psychological safety is important for building great teams; CFO should look to improve the moral of their own finance organization before pleasing others with decisions that do not make sense.

If I were you, I’d run for the hills if your CFO is gonna keep this act up.

I’m in FDD… I know I signed up for this but there’s something about the anxiety that comes on a Friday knowing that we still didn’t get access to VDR .. and how that anxiety grows as you enter the long weekend knowing that access can happen at any minute (or not) and you have to tippy-toe on the idea of potentially cancelling on your memorial weekend plans. I know the unpredictability of our job but phew 😮‍💨

I was approached by an external recruiter about Houlihan Lokey TAS at a senior level (SVP / Director). No specific comp ranges discussed yet, but I hear bonuses are massive. Not sure if anyone has insights at that level as most posts are for analyst / associates - thoughts?
