Might have been out of their control? But I can definitely understand it does hurt. Sometimes companies only mean well when you are in a position to help them, when layoffs come around all bets really are now. Happy you are enjoying retirement now though!
I wonder if she maybe decided to lay you off specifically because you were about to retire anyway? It might be harder for someone who still heavily relies on a job to handle the financial stress of being laid off. No matter what the reason though, I know it still sucks. But happy retirement 🥳🥳🥳
I appreciate your perspective. I think it's a common attitude to think that loyalty to a company will be returned. But we see evidence all the time that loyalty usually just goes one way. In the end, we have to make sure we always have an alternative plan.
