That's a risky move. And it would be a risky move in normal times, but with the country plunging into a trade war that will no doubt bring a great many unanticipated consequences, it's especially risky. Maybe I'm just averse to adventure and no fun at all, but I think anyone who has a job now should hang on to it.

Would highly advise against leaving your current role until you land an offer somewhere else.
Job market is still a little wonky. Have seen have trouble finding something in 6+ months in some cases (depending on specialization).
I’ve taken a break between jobs before, and it worked out well for me. It gave me time to recharge and focus on finding the right fit. However, I kept networking and applying while on my break. Just make sure you have enough savings to cover the time off and stay proactive in your job search!
With so much uncertainty in the United States and Canada right now and the potential for so many different outcomes in the next six months, I would not pick now as the time to make a switch. This stupid trade war could land both countries in a recession. And when that happens, who knows what jobs could be made redundant . My advice for 2025 is stay where you are and make yourself indispensable
Haven’t personally done it. But have a friend who quit his job, went and hiked the Colorado Trail and took a trip to Europe to do one of yhe Spanish trails. When he got back he moved states and found a role that would essentially have been a promotion. That was a couple years ago he’s now a Sales Lead for the West Coast region at his company and loving life
I’ve sent out 130 resumes and still have nothing after three months. For reference, I applied to 4 places and got offers from 3 within a month when I job hunted three years ago.
I don’t think you should quit before securing a new role. However, since you’re the one experiencing the situation firsthand, here are a few key questions to consider:
1. Is your current job negatively impacting your health?
2. Are the company’s values and culture completely misaligned with yours?
3. Is the work environment toxic?
If you answered "yes" to any of these, it may be time to resign. You'll likely be more productive in your job search outside that environment than while still engaged in a role that drains you.
Do you have a family you support? Sole income or dual income household? Do you have 12 months of expenses in the bank or would you have to take a hardship 401k distribution or sell your house or not make rent if you couldn't land a job. All relevant factors!
