Was recently let go from bad work environment, looking for referrals in entry level engineering positions in or near ventura county. 4 years experience in R&D/tech environment with solid customer interaction experience. Its been hard getting employment after this because people's first instinct is to dismiss me due to how short my last experience was. This is a very stressful time now since it feels like I have to get my foot back in the door from square 1. Advice also appreciated.

Soon transferring from an advisory role (financing, FDD, consultancy, modeling etc) at a small boutique firm to a TAS role at BDO. Main clients are lower MM and MM PE as well as listed corporates.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
