We got a new VP and they’ve already renamed half our teams and rolled out five "transformation" initiatives. No direction just pointless chaos. Why do new leaders always feel the need to flip the table instead of learning how things work first?

Give him time. You’ll be surprised by how much things can change for the better with an external perspective. Maybe even show interest in why he’s rolling out those initiatives, you could be surprised by the rationale behind them (instead of being random/chaotic)

They really should not do this stuff if what you say is true. My Bible is “The first 90 days”. Such a great book. Anyone who starts a new job should read this to understand what to do in those first precious few months. Understand whether you are walking into a company that’s in cardiac arrest, or a company that just needs a little maintenance. Your response as a new leader needs to be hard wired into what you discover in those first 90 days. Don’t do anything until you figure out what you’re walking into. It’s disappointing that new leaders confuse early action with a “strategic response”. 🤦‍♀️

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...

I want to leave public as a senior, but can’t find anything I’m interested in. I’ve been applying;g for manager and assistant controller roles, which has been really difficult. But I don’t really want a senior accountant role. I was thinking FP and A is a good choice. I’m looking for something that has good career progression and a better WLB balance, pay isn’t so important to me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
