Was the team able to specify what felt “off”?
You need to really drill down on this, since it appears to trump all other qualifications. Worst case scenario, the team is looking for a specific “demographic” but are beating around the bush to not appear discriminatory.
Did you share that assessment?
Interviews are awkward in nature and candidates are likely nervous. Not everyone can be “on” like a lightbulb. Unless being a superstar presenter is a core requirement, I feel like you can maybe push back a bit on your team.
