My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. How do you deal with a passive aggressive supervisor who regularly points fingers and throws people under the bus?

Anyone relocated from Toronto to London recently (within the last 2 years or so)? My partner and I are contemplating the move...we want more diversity in our lives and want to work to live, not live to work as we do here in our respective consulting jobs. I am seriously worried. I am doing my co-op and my supervisor is not giving me an easy time. I am trying to do my best even with very little direction and this supervisor constantly harassing my about things like her not being able to use google meet or to remember passwords. I feel bullied and very anxious. I am afraid she can jeopardize my visa with a bad evaluation. I have been working at midnight, on Sunday mornings but I am human, I make mistakes, she just blames me instead of teaching.

It irks me when someone says I have a "lovely voice," it just makes me feel super uncomfortable and unsure what I should say to them

What is your understanding of the norms around whose names end up on a brief/complaint/motion papers etc.? I’m a midlevel at an AmLaw 20 firm and have twice been the principal drafter of something only to be cut from the signature block. The associate senior to me is on it despite having done far less of the work. And it’s not because it required a rewrite or something. The filed product is 80-90% my work. Am I wrong to be pissed off about this?

I am curious how other inclusion teachers are being utilized when the school is doing remote learning. I find that I am sitting in the zoom class and have very little opportunity to contribute. I am having discussions with my teachers on ways that I can better support them and the students when remote.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Does anyone know if their firm has any inclusion initiatives around hiring individuals with special needs as part of a transition program? For example, when offices are open, having individuals be employed by the firm and help with more administrative tasks such as helping to get conference rooms set up for events, assisting visitors, etc.? My younger brother has special needs so am trying to help my parents look for a few options and was wondering if any of the consulting firms have this!
