Goal seems to be to get out with the strait reopened even if that means paying a toll to Iran. It’s a complete disaster and self inflicted given that we had the JCPOA before Trump cancelled it.
US lost? Not sure what war you are watching

How did we win?
Iran hasn’t committed to anything nuclear related and Iran controls the Strait.
I wouldn’t say we’re losing the war… but it depends on your definition of losing… if you weighted losses & casualties were objectively winning…
if your definition is the view of our military might on the global stage and our ability to influence our economic and soft powers, then I’d agree with you… we look weak… but you also don’t want to drop an atomic bomb and launch a broader conflict…

Wars should be measured by changes in the relative power of the nation states involved post conflict.

There isn’t going to be any progress till Trump is gone. Trust has been destroyed. The Iranians have very little interest in negotiating with an administration that attacked them for no reason. They can hold the Strait of Hormuz hostage and will continue to do so.
If another administration comes in and they think the American government has become more reasonable, we might start making slow progress, but it will be very incremental. It took Obama’s team years and a lot of patience to arrive at the JCPOA. And it’s been criticized as too weak.
We’ve just taken several giant steps back.
Iran is willing to suffer thousands of casualties while the us cannot stand paying 2$ per gallon extra per gallon. Thats why its not possible to defeat Iran.

America is uncomfortable with higher prices and speed bumps because no one knows why we’re involved in Iran or what our objectives are. That’s why pain at the pump is a self-inflicted wound. If the U.S. wanted to get involved in Iran, the administration should’ve done a better job of getting the country on board with military action, potentially prolonged action, along with boots on the ground. Of course we’re unprepared to lose lies in a war of personal choice. The 13 lives lost were completely unnecessary. Trump was sold a lie that Iran would fall easily like Venezuela because he’s a gullible fool, whose ego was padded by the sycophants around him.
When we send the ships home.
