That’s easy. Anytime you have metrics to show increased productivity. Increased responsibility. Increased contributions by way of time, revenue generation and/or organization support. These are all appropriate metrics for asking for compensation increases. The worst reason? Tenure.
That’s going to depend on the relative impact of your increased productivity as it relates to profit margins. You could possibly calculate a reasonable compensation increase if you grabbed those metrics and brought them to the table when you approach your leadership.
