I’m a senior Gen X. From what I’ve seen, my younger coworkers have been much less likely to work late or socialize with coworkers. They protect their work/life boundaries far more than I ever did. They work hard but understand that work is not “family” despite what management wants us to believe. I kinda admire and resent them for it.
I do admire the boundary thing. Om just starting to get that after all this time.
As a millennial (I’m 41) it’s nice to be out of the conversation for once.
As a GenXer it’s nice to be included for once! 🤓
I don’t think Gen Z workers are darlings. So many of them are so useless and high maintenance that many agencies are cutting back on juniors.
In my experience, many (but not all) Gen Z workers are offended by everything, never want to work late, feel entitled to massive raises without accomplishing anything, think everyone else is getting preferential treatment, have no loyalty to any company, lack craft skills, and know a lot about memes but little about music, film, art etc.. They all grew up getting driven by their parents to all their scheduled activities. They never learned how to cope with failure. Also, they are often socially awkward outside of sending DMs.
So are we thinking the Millennials are the ideal creatives now? With so much buzz about ageism, GenX is obviously losing out to someone. @c1's points are the exact opposite of GenX, so why are we getting passed over? "asking for too much money." I think that's what you will say?
Did AI write this?
@sc1: smells like you need a diaper change: unpleasant.
Your wording is confusing. Are you identifying as Gen X?
That clears it up, thanks.
I too am Gen X.
