- Griffith Park Observatory: hike around the park, download and checkout the Ellen Reid Soundwalk, check out the observatory. Great place for sunset.
- Hollywood Sign hike: this could be done in conjunction with Griffith Park or go to Bronson Canyon and also check out the Batman cave or walk around Lake Hollywood (this is the easiest but had a great view of the sign)
- Getty Center: great views, great art, great gardens. Some free music events. Great spot for sunset but good views in every direction.
- Santa Monica / Venice visit: fun to explore 3rd St, Main St, Abbot Kinney, Beachwalk, Palisades Park, SM Pier. Annenberg Beach House & the adjacent guesthouse. Great day to grab a bike, ride a scooter and take some great walks.
- Beverly Hills: great people watching, window shopping and spot for some iconic touristy photos. Don’t just go see the Beverly Hills sign - walk all of Beverly Gardens park. Don’t just gawk at the shops on Rodeo, check out the gorgeous city hall. Maybe take in a concert or show at the Wallis. On a Sunday hit the farmer’s market and buy items to take home to make a great brunch or have a bite at the market.
- West Hollywood: maybe extend your Beverly Gardens walk and check out the next block east and see the Troubadour and Dan Tana’s. If you can see a show at the Troub or at one of the other legendary venues on the Sunset Strip. Walk the Strip and Sunset Plaza. Some fun places to grab a bite or drink are all around and there are high and low options. From Doughbrix to Sunset Tower, to riding a bull at Saddle Ranch, see a jazz show at Sunrose, check out the views at any number of spots including Sunset Tower, The Penney, The One Hotel, the public space at AKA, the roof bar at the Edition Hotel.
- Take in a show at the Hollywood Bowl.
- Checkout Graystone Mannsion - walking around the property in lovely and it’s free.
- Malibu Day: from County Line and a stop at Neptune’s net to tide pools and beach walk at Leo Carrillo Beach to the Malibu Pier. Some weekends have a car show at the Malibu Country Mart and you could see Jay Leno.
- Go to a comedy show at The Improv, Comedy Store, Laugh Factory or Largo.
- Studio Tour: I like Warner Bros best but if you have to do a park then it’s Universal.
These are all good. Getty Center is probably the most underrated stop in LA.
Also agree the best way to do SM and Venice is to rent a bike at a Perry’s and cruise down the bike path all the way to the Marina. It’s only a few miles but great scenery and awesome bars (food not good pretty much anywhere). Just make sure to lock your bike.
Neptunes Net reference…love it.
