If you worked on clients who are listed, you can highlight SEC/ PCAOB along with US GAAP knowledge in resume. Another key word would be the industry. If you have audited insurance companies and you are applying to same industry, highlight it. Prepare for the interview like you would prepare for an exam. Some ways to achieve this will be reading the 10K/10Q, earnings call, CEO speech, etc. Also, dont ever mention that burn out caused you to look for another role. Come up with answers for general behavioral questions prior to interview.
I mainly do large Non-profit and private company CIP and healthcare jobs and have resumes tailored for job apps in both. I mention US GAAP as well. . I also have some industry experience from my first job so have that on my resume as well with key words around closing, reconciling, process documentation, etc. If something is in a job posting, I mimick that language to applicable skills on my resume as well.
I definitely spend a lot of time prepping for the interviews as well, and never mention burn out. My answer for looking for a new job is usually along the lines of wanting to transition from external audit to corporate accounting to be able to take my knowledge from variety of clients and skills to support an organization internally and learn/grow within a single company/industry - tailored to the job.
Dont be afraid to take contract roles. Sometimes it pays you more and opens door for permanent positions
I need health insurance so I don’t think that’s an option. I don’t want to leave a stressful permanent role for a temp role in this economy
I keep getting interviews and prepare a lot for the interviews. So I want to review my resume again with any general feedback from hiring managers on here. My main concern is that the issue is with me. I’m a woman, a little overweight, and have high functioning adhd/autism that doesn’t usually affect my work or socialization, and I’ve had no issues in my current client facing job. So worried that I’m already doing everything right and the hiring managers don’t like me due to one or all of my personal attributes.
Which firm are you at? I’m also a senior and can’t find any senior accountant roles in industry. I am also in the NFP niche.
