PPP was different than this action. Here we are forgiving a loan that was willingly accepted by all parties. Also, we are not fixing the issue...the student loan market will not change, and now the people/universities know the government can forgive your loan, therefore they have no incentive to control their costs (and prices)
“Where’s the false equivalency?” 😂.
The TARP was a bill passed with congressional approval. That’s how our representative republic works.
And that’s just the starting point of the argument, but frankly I don’t think it’s worth engaging further with you, so I’ll save my thumbs the exercise and go back to work. The dictator made his choice and it’s done.
No I was referring to getting useless degrees from expensive universities that don’t provide enough income to pay back the the loans. Go to a state school and get a degree that will get you a good paying job so you have manageable loans that you can pay back quickly.
My argument is that you WOULD have benefitted from the loan forgiveness😂 I want YOU and anyone else that could benefit from that to do so! Why you don’t want that opportunity for others is what baffles me. Calling my argument baseless when you’ve done nothing but serve platitudes is also hilarious. You are, again, asserting that you must have worked harder and sacrificed more than anyone that has insurmountable student loan debt and I am telling you that you’re not that special. Other people have had far more difficult circumstances, worked hard, sacrificed more, and still have debt. Does that seem so impossible to you? Wake up
Look PPP loan were not perfect, but they were intended to keep small businesses and alive while they were forced to shut down by the government. This had to be rushed out quickly which was why it cast a wide net and more businesses benefited from it than probably should’ve. Student loan forgiveness is very different. It incentivizes poor decision making and will probably make the problem worse rather than fix it.
Poor decision making as in pursuing a higher education in an attempt to overcome systemic disadvantages and lead a better life? The collision between “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” and “poor people shouldn’t go to college” is absolutely wild here lmao. It is clear that any person without the support of generational wealth is taking a risk when they pursue higher education (due to the already exorbitant costs driven by profit seeking universities), but are we seriously going to act like that is poor decision making? The real question needs to be why is our system set up to expose people to such insane financial circumstances just to become educated and get a good job? Safety nets need to be a part of the social contract if this is going to be how our system is set up.
