I’ve seen a lot of recruiters recently trying to hire for advisory consulting firms that claim they do the work that Big 4 can’t because of independence issues. Does anyone think these types of firms are sustainable or will big 4 find a way around the independence restrictions and take this work back?

Thinking of exiting from B4 M&A Advisory to Corp Dev to gain industry experience before b school with long term goal of PE. How much does company size, brand name and location matter for 1) b school apps 2) PE recruiters in the future ?

Honestly working at Big 4 has made me feel worthless. Seems like nothing I do is good enough. I graduated with honors from a large competitive public university. I came in with a positive attitude,I am a very talkative person who had many leadership roles in college, I always stay organize, and I put in the time and continue to look for ways to improve. But constantly feeling like I’m not “type A” enough or that I need to communicate more and prove my worth. Is it like this at other jobs too? :/

Curious what the current Employee Referral Bonuses look like in B4 firms? As a smaller firm, our people are being inundated by recruiters, but also staff/seniors from B4 firms looking to poach, I assume because there is significant financial incentive. How good are the referral bonuses at your firm?

Looks like B4 partners makes the most $$ in the long run, even tech/FAANG or industry level senior roles doesn’t pay more then $600-700k, except a few roles like ceo/IB/PE/other financial roles/startup rsu (of u r lucky). Came to the conclusion after reading all the posts in this and other bowls. May be MBB, but if u add pensions, I think B4 is better. Thoughts?

I’ve been seeing this a lot more recently and just had to make a thread about it. I refuse to believe that anyone on here has actually been asked to work a 100hr week. People come onto this thread with legitimate questions and concerns and I just see people trying to scare them out of public which inevitably makes it worse for everyone else who sticks around. Even an 80 hour week is debatable and that is the absolute top. Stop trying to be an attention getter. We work, but not 24/7.

Last weekend I brought 2k to Vegas for a getaway with friends and ended up finding a magic machine that paid me $1500 every hour. I ended up with 15 hand pays all at or above $1500. Like a true drunken Vegas partier, I kept putting my winners back in, paying for my friends games, dinner, drinks, shows.... I was showing off. Ended up coming home with 6k. Still happy. But not the 21k my tax records show I won. What do I need to worry about come tax time?

Which firms pay out bonuses and what is the typical amount? Any of the mid-size pay bonuses like the big 4?

I’m up for early promotion, and I’m curious about the raise %. By getting promoted early I’ll be missing out on one year of 5-8% at my current position compared to most of my peers in the new one. Do early promo raises ever account for this or are they the usual annual + promotion %? If they don’t account for it I feel like it leaves me under compensated compared to my peers. Even with one less year of experience I would still be doing the same job and expect the same compensation.
