McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

@OP: out of curiosity, what are some of the 'perks' you are looking forward to as SM?
Follow your gut
PwC 1 - if I left, I'd probably end up at your firm. Only hesitation is the less than ideal 401K match plus it would be likely starting from M all over again
OP take me with 🤗
A1 - The seniority is nice, but mostly looking forward to the variable comp (bonuses + RSUs). Also would like to continue to show career progression, and not just hopping around as an M
We have two plans. As an M, one is a free 5% of compensation. The other is the poor 401k you mentioned (25% of 6% of salary). And decent bonus potential, especially as top performing director.
